Le Mouvement Lao pour les Droits de l'Homme (MLDH) condamne avec force la nouvelle arrestation et le transfert à la prison d'Insein de Madame Aung San Suu Kyi, Prix Nobel de la Paix, dirigeante historique de la Ligue Nationale pour la Démocratie.
Alors que son assignation à résidence surveillée devait s'achever à la fin mai 2009, cette décision des autorités birmanes est d'autant plus inacceptable que l'état de santé de l'opposante birmane s'est détérioré ces derniers jours. La décision de la Junte au pouvoir apparaît clairement comme un prétexte pour maintenir Mme Aung San Suu Kyi sous contrôle.
Le MLDH apporte son soutien sans faille au combat pacifique pour la Liberté et la Démocratie en Birmanie, un pays dirigé depuis des décennies par une Junte militaire avec laquelle le Politburo de la République Démocratique Populaire Lao (RDPL) entretient des relations particulièrement amicales voire complices.
Le MLDH appelle l'ONU, les pays membres de l'ASEAN, l'Union Européenne, le Japon, le président américain Barack Obama et son administration, à s'engager delà des mots pour la protection de l'opposante birmane, et à prendre des actions concrètes, urgentes et concertées pour obtenir une libération immédiate et inconditionnelle de Mme Aung San Suu Kyi.

Immediate release for Aung San Suu Kyi
The Lao Movement for Human Rights (LMHR) firmly condemns the new arrest and the transfer to the prison of Insein of Mrs Aung San Suu Kyi, Nobel Peace Prize laureate, the historical leader of the National League for Democracy.
Whereas her house arrest is to end at the end of May 2009, this decision of the Burmese authorities is all the more unacceptable as the health of the pro-democracy activist has been worsening these last days. The Junta's decision appears as a clear pretext to keep Mrs. Aung San Suu Kyi under control.
The LMHR gives its strong support to the peaceful struggle for Freedom and Democracy in Burma, a country governed since many long years by a military Junta with whom the Politburo of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (LPDR) maintains special close relations.
The Lao Movement for Human Rights urges the UN, the ASEAN member states, the European Union, Japan, The US president Barack Obama and his administration, to proceed beyond words for the protection of Aung San Suu Kyi, and to take concrete, urgent and concerted actions in order to obtain an immediate and unconditional release of Mrs. Aung San Suu Kyi
